I wanted to wish everyone a wonderful Thanksgiving holiday. If you are traveling, stay safe. The weather certainly doesn't want to cooperate.
I'd like to leave you with a few pictures from our Thanksgiving activities...
We read "Twas the Night Before Thanksgiving" by Dav Pilkey. Pilkey adapts Clement Moore's classic Christmas poem to tell his wacky Thanksgiving tale. The day before Thanksgiving, eight boys and girls take a field trip to a turkey farm. They have fun playing with eight exuberant turkeys but are shocked to learn that Farmer Mack Nuggett plans to kill all the turkeys for Thanksgiving dinners. So the children decide to smuggle all the turkeys home, and all their Thanksgiving dinners become vegetarian this year. The turkeys' lives are saved!
So, if your child says "No!" to turkey this year, you know why :) Here is a list of what they want to eat instead:
Every PALS class had the opportunity to prepare something for our big Thanksgiving Feast. The kindergarten classes made butter. They were surprised to learn that butter was made solely from heavy whipping cream (and sometimes salt). And they were even more surprised to learn that it thickens into butter simply by shaking the contents - vigorously shaking that is. We had some aching arms by the time it was all said and done!
For the feast our class posed as Pilgrims while Ms. Wyskida's class took on the Indians. We sure did have the sweetest bunch of Pilgrims, in my very biased opinion :)
I hope you all received the adorable placemats the kids made for you. I wanted to preserve them better by either laminating them or putting clear contact paper over them. We ran out of time on Monday :( If you want to do it on your own, the easiest thing to do is wrap it in clear contact paper - otherwise you can take it to Kinkos and have it laminated.
When we return from the holiday break, we will be celebrating Addyson Milanov as our Star Student!
Addyson has worked so hard to improve in all areas of the classroom. Her hard work has brought a bunch of pluses and a whole lot of rewards - not to mention lots of hugs and smiles from me. I am so proud of her! :)
